Authenticity Matters: Embracing Who God Made Us to Be
In a world that constantly pressures us to conform, authenticity becomes a radical act. For Gen Z—especially young adults aged 18–24—this is more than a buzzword; it’s a struggle. 🔍 According to recent research, 62% of Gen Z feel held back from being their authentic selves. That’s a staggering number—and a call to action.
Why does authenticity matter? Because God designed us to live truthfully and courageously.
Only through God’s Truth can we have an authentic life. Our ideas and those of the culture only bring a lie to our lives.
In Romans 12:9, we are reminded:
“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
“Dissimulation” means pretending or faking—living behind a mask. But God calls us to something better: sincere love and a life rooted in what is good.
Similarly, Psalm 51:6 says:
“Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.”
God isn’t impressed by appearances; He longs for truth deep within us. Authenticity begins in the soul. It’s about knowing who we are in Christ and letting that truth shine outward—without fear, without shame.
As a faith community, let’s create spaces where people—especially young adults—can drop the mask, embrace who God made them to be, and walk in truth and grace. Let's model sincerity in our relationships, churches, and conversations.
Let love be real. Let lives be free. Because authenticity matters.
